Marketing & Client Services Internship Program

Principal Job Functions: The purpose of this internship is to give students a unique opportunity to learn and provide support in the day-to-day operations of the marketing and client services departments. Responsibilities may include client and market research, planning and assisting in the execution of station promotional events, supporting the sales and marketing teams, working at station remote broadcasts including home football games and training camp.Interns may also work with clients on day-to-day projects involving gameday marketing campaigns and on-air advertising.

Skills and Abilities Required: Applicants must be dedicated, hard working, self motivated and open to learning new skills through hands-on experience. Must apply creativity and initiative to all projects. Clear verbal, written and typing/computer skills are essential. Knowledge of media, sports and entertainment industries is preferred. Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word programs are used daily.

Requirements and Reporting Structure: This is an unpaid internship and students must earn college credit. Students must be entering at least their junior year in college to be considered.

Possible office locations include: Red Zebra Broadcasting headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., FedEx Field in Landover, Md., and Redskins Park in Ashburn, Va.

Programming Internship Program

Intern duties may include:

  • Monitoring Associated Press and various audio sources for news cuts
  • Editing/cutting sound
  • Phone call screening for live on-air programming
  • Assisting with the coordination of program material, completing daily commercial and engineering logs, monitoring equipment in the broadcast studios, and may include some operating the studio control board.

Previous knowledge of digital editing techniques helpful.
