The mission of the Redskins Read program is to encourage and promote literacy among youth. The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation produces and distributes Redskins Read activity books to local branch libraries, Washington, D.C. after-school programs and literacy centers. Also, local libraries receive grants to purchase books. Redskins players continue to read to children at area locations throughout the year and participate in the annual national event, Read Across America. |

The 4th & Life program is a curriculum-based program for high school athletes focusing on what it takes to be successful on the field, in the classroom, and in the workplace. The curriculum illustrates important life lessons by using examples from Redskins players, coaches, and alumni. Football players from area high schools participate in the program each year, culminating with two player-led interactive forums--one for freshmen and one for seniors--at FedExField, sponsored by Coca-Cola. Curriculum cards, created in partnership with Junior Achievement®, are provided to all student-athletes that attend the Forum and feature tips about staying on the academic track, preparing early for college, and other careers in sports besides playing. In June 2006, an additional forum was held for athletes in the Virginia Beach area as part of the Redskins Beach Blitz. |
| The mission of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation is to utilize the assets of the Washington Redskins and its corporate and community partners to make a positive and measurable impact on youth development in the greater Washington, D.C. region in the areas of education, community outreach, and health and wellness. |
